Tamagotchi Connection Instructions is part of the Tamagotchi Connection Information Center.
The Instructions below are for the Tamagotchi Plus, very similar to Tamagotchi Connection and were provided by Bandai in their Japanese 3 Feb 2004 press release.All functions above are controlled from the three buttons below the screen.The 'left' button is called 'A', the 'middle' button is called 'B' and the 'right' button is called 'C'.
The Tamagotchi Connection (UK: Tamagotchi Connexion) is a virtual pet in the Tamagotchi line of digital toys from Bandai. The Tamagotchi Connection is unique from prior models in that it uses infrared technology to connect and interact with other devices and was first released in 2004, 8 years after the first Tamagotchi toy. Check back every 15 minutes, or put it on PAUSE (press A and B button to pause or unpause) until you have time to play again. Check the hearts (in the first button, the scale) every 15 minutes, and, if you play games so your Tamagotchi weighs the lowest weight, you clean up its mess, you don't overfeed it, and you take great care of it, you'll end up with a really good character! 'A' lets you scroll clockwise thru icons at the bottom of the screen to select a function.
'B' is used to select a function once you highlight it with 'A'. It also scrolls through the informationin each function and is used to set the time and date.
'C' is used to return to the main screen from within a function or to unselect all functions in the main screen.
The 'skull icon' means your Tamagotchi is ill and needs at least one dose of medicine.
You can connect your Tamagotchi Connection to another one (if they are both old enough) by using the 'A' button to select the 'heart' icon in the top right corner of the screen. Point the keychain end of each Tamagotchi at each other, then press the 'B' button twice. When you get them connected,they will automatically play games with each other, or visit and leave presents.
Be sure to turn out the light when your Tamagotchi sleeps at night, he will automaticallyturn it on when he wakes up.
Up to fifty friends can be stored along with the level of friendship: aquaintance, buddy, friend,good friend, best friend, true partner (indicated by the number of smiley faces).

Tamagotchi Plus has meters for Hunger, Happiness and Discipline. The books speculatethere are three other variables of importance (Luck Level, Body Needs, and Heart/Spirit).
Luck Level ranges from one to five. If Tamagotchi's Luck level is high, they will beoffered more disciplined (higher discipline level) parters in arranged marriages. Luck Levelis fixed at birth and never changes, but marrying a higher Luck Level partner increasingLuck Level of the resulting offspring.
Body Needs are food, health and discipline.
Heart Needs are happiness, sleep and comforting.
Reacting to all calls within 15 minutes, turning light off within one hour of going to sleepat night and sucessfully playing at least 20 steps in the games (hurdles or dance) help Body Needs and Heart Needs.

Making Friends:
The advanced Tamagotchi Connection features new infrared communication functions allowing the virtual pet to become friends with other Tamagotchi and store a 'friend list' of up to 50 friends. The more friends you have, the more fun! Once an adults, the Tamagotchi can connect with a compatible Tamagotchi friend and have a second-generation Tamagotchi that the owner can care for and nurture into an adult to create a possible third and fourth generation.
Meeting the Matchmaker:
If your Tamagotchi connection has not found a compatible mate by the time it reaches 7-10 years old (7-10 days in real time) then Mrs. Busybody will come along and suggest a mate. Reject her suggested mate too many times and your Tamagotchi will become a lonely old singleton. Be careful, you never know how many times she'll return!

Earning 'Training' Bars:
The way you train your Tamagotchi will affect how it will grow up and how disciplined it will be (determined by the amount of training bars). To earn training bars, you should praise it when it does something good, but give it a 'time out' if it refuses to do what you're asking it to do.
Secrets to Happiness:
Feeding your Tamagotchi a snack helps make it happy — but be cautious because too many snacks can cause cavities!
Keeping Fit:
Keep your Tamagotchi healthy by not only feeding it but also exercising it, too. It needs to stay in tiptop shape in order to grow, mature and creature new generations.
First-Aid:
Maker sure you give your Tamagotchi medicine at the first signs of illness (represented by a skull hovering above). The sooner you treat your Tamagotchi's illness, the better. And don't hesitate to give it a double dosage if necessary.
Return to Tamagotchi Planet:
If a winged Tamagotchi appears on your screen, it means that your Tamagotchi decided to go back to its home planet. But don't despair — simply press the (A) and (C) buttons at the same time and your new egg is ready for hatching!
